Casey McAuliffe
Community Director
Galveston, TexasCasey McAuliffe is the Executive Director of Groundswell. A mother of two and former organic farmer, Casey spent a decade running a vegetable and flower farm before joining the organization when it was still “just a market.” Under her leadership, Groundswell has grown into a central hub for local food and community connection on Galveston Island—operating a weekly farmers market, expanding food access for families, offering free cooking classes and community meals, and leading a district-wide school gardening program alongside urban gardens that grow and share food at no cost.
From 2017 to 2023, Casey served as a City Councilwoman in La Marque, where she championed community-centered policies and local resilience. Her work is rooted in the belief that access to fresh food, connection to nature, and shared spaces are essential to community well-being. She has been recognized as a Galveston County Daily News Woman of Influence, a 40 under 40 honoree, and is a multi-year nominee for Citizen of the Year.
